"The Forgotten Scarecrow"

An abandoned cornfield

sits just outside of town. 

All the crops had been 

made silent by the frost.

And with the coming of winter

and the deep frozen snow,

even the scarecrow was 

forgotten and lost. 

But I tell this 

tale of one crazy 

Halloween so the story 

will somehow survive. 

Of how lost spirits had

come to earth that night,

and how the scarecrow 

was suddenly alive!!

He crept into the village

hoping not to be seen. 

Animated scarecrows 

were really quite rare. 

And what he found 

just amazed him as he 

hid behind a tree. 

The magic spirit of 

Halloween was

everywhere!

The neighborhood children 

were all dressed up

to let the creatures of 

their imaginations 

wildly roam.

Everything was decorated

like a spooky carnival!

But then sadly it was

time to go home.

"This can't be all there is!!" 

The scarecrow said.

A worried look soon

appeared across his brow.

"The time is quickly fleeting!"

He cried to the moon. 

"The time to live is now!!"

High above the scarecrow

was the Halloween moon.

The spirits traveled on a

strange autumn breeze!

Soon the darkened

Jack O Lanterns 

all burst back into life, 

casting shadows on the 

bare twisted trees! 

All the decorations of 

Halloween were soon

brought to life! They came

to dance beneath the 

full haunted moon!

They laughed for hours 

until the coming of

dawn.  How could the 

magic be over so soon?

In the early morning 

fog the lost spirits soon 

knew that it was time 

for them all to take flight.

And the forgotten

scarecrow sat

down with a smile…

for he had lived again

on Halloween night!
