'She Saw You. "
Greg Budig 2020
She saw you in your
wedding dress.
Wearing the pearls
that she had worn.
Her mother had worn
them also. They're now
yours to be handed down.
She saw you through her
suffering and the drugs
that eased her pain. Eyes
now bright with clarity
she knew that it was you.
She said you look so
beautiful... and she smiled.
She saw you as you cried
so hard, the son she
once held in her arms.
The tears you held for
so many years, came
streaming through
your tired young eyes.
She saw you as her
strong young man, who
still needed to be her quiet
little boy. Then your pain
turned into memories,
your strong laughter now
echoes down the hall.
She saw you as you hid
away, from a fear that
you held far too long.
Your nightmare had
become your reality.
You could have easily
just faded away.
She saw you as you held
her hand, you brushed
her soft, thin hair.
You did not hide, but
were still afraid.
You were the woman she
always knew you could be.
She saw you as you
said goodbye.
She saw you deal
with pain.
She saw you laugh,
she saw you cry.
She saw you through it all.
The End
